Reading 📖

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
I’ll be honest: If it weren’t for one of my best friends gifting me a copy, I would likely have never read A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR). I’ve always been curious about this mega-bestselling romantasy series, but I’m easily exhausted by long books that are heavy on worldbuilding. There’s a reason why I write contemporary romance, after all!
But I must say I was pleasantly surprised. My Instagram followers got the play-by-play in my Stories, but overall, I found this retelling of Beauty and the Beast super compelling. The first 100 pages are slow-going, but there’s very little info-dumping, so you’re propelled forward to learn more. And once the story picks up steam, you can’t help but keep turning the pages.
I also forgot how much I adore love triangles! They’re not common in rom-coms, so I thoroughly enjoyed reading about two immortal fae falling head over heels for a spunky 19-year-old who can’t even read (#TeamRhysand).
I’m interested enough to continue the series, but I already have so many books on my TBR, so the other installments will have to wait. And joke’s on me, because the next two are even longer. The things I’ll do for sexy shadow daddies!
Watching 📺

My Lady Jane on Amazon Prime Video
Anyone who says marketing doesn’t work on them is a damn liar because the TikTok ads for My Lady Jane were *highly* effective. Anyone who didn’t get enough Penelope & Colin in season 3 of Bridgerton needs to watch this show because it is an absolute delight!
Based on a YA novel by co-authors Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows, this story reimagines an alternate history in which Lady Jane Grey isn’t executed and instead gets to live happily ever after.
The show combines the modern soundtrack and meta humor of A Knight’s Tale with an exquisitely delicious hate-to-love romance. I am a sucker for a dark-haired dreamboat with a British accent, and oh boy, does actor Edward Bluemel deliver.
Traveling ✈️
Colorado Springs
I spent last week in Colorado Springs with my in-laws, and although it was hot as balls and the high altitude made it even more brutal, we had a bunch of fun. We rented a massive Airbnb in the ritzy Broadmoor neighborhood and enjoyed the sights.
Hiking around the Garden of the Gods (pictured above) was the perfect inspiration for my upcoming rock-climbing romance, LOVE ON THE ROCKS. I’m nearly done with my latest draft and will be handing off the manuscript to my editor next week—wish me luck!
What should I be reading, watching, and traveling to next?

I LURVED "A Knight's Tale." (RIP Heath) "You have been weighed. You have been measured. And you have been found wanting." LOL I especially loved the dance scene that he COMPLETELY made up. LOL I saw the trailer for MLJ and thought, "I'm gonna have to watch this." Because yes, Season 1 and Season 3 of "Bridgerton" were my favorites and now that you said it like that, I'm gonna have to make a point to watch it.
